"Conocí a Barney James en mis ensayos con Warhorse, y era un músico excepcional. Lástima que me surgiera una oferta demasiado tentadora y tuviera que irme con Strawbs". Dice en el texto de éste inverosímil rescate del 2021, nada menos que Rick Wakeman. A lo que se ve, iba a ser el teclista de tan insigne banda hard prog, antes de que lo sustituyera Frank Wilson. No se olvidó Wakeman de la calidad que atesoraba aquella banda. Fichando al batería Barney James, (sustituido por Mac Poole en los discos de Warhorse), para su The English Rock Ensemble. Y participando en "Journey to the Centre of the Earth" (74) y "Myths and Legends of King Arthur" (75). Que se dice pronto. También fichó a Ashley Holt como cantante, otro ex-Warhose. Banda que hizo dos extraordinarios álbumes para Vertigo, "Warhorse" (1970) y "Red Sea" (1972), con el liderazgo del ex-Deep Purple, Nick Simper al bajo. I sometimes wonder what it was like to be a music lover in the seventies. So many bands with so many records and so many of them obscure…was it as big a treat as it is today to find something incredibly rare. Blackwater Park "Dirt Box" [Spalax]
ResponderEliminarTheir lone (only one album) with 1972 this German hard rock outfit with an English vocalist,combined elements from multiple extant and budding rock subgenres to construct their complex sound: hard rock, blues-rock, jazz-rock, acid rock, prog rock, and even proto-metal.
Blackwater Park is an obscure band that emerged from the Berlin underground scene. They released their unique album "Dirt Box" in 1971, published on BASF in 1972. The group delivers a captivating, effective bluesy-heavy rock "trip" with lot of incisive guitar riffs, progressive Hammond Organ's arrangements, melodic heavy vocals and psychedelic effects that are part of the mix. His British singer had a strong voice. Especially the third and heavy track "Indian Summer", which clearly shows us the quality, engaging and virtuosity among its members. Remember that the last song is beautiful version of "For No One", composed by Lennon and McCartney,with the album 'Revolver' issued in 1966.
(Accessible) kraut power band whose work is essential for collectors. "Dirt Box" has been recently reissued on CD by record labels Second Battle.
Excelente banda!!!. La conoci el año pasado. Tienen una mezcla de progresivo, toques de bules y hard. Las piezas Indian summer, rock song,mental block y Dirty face muy buenas!!!
