El 22 de julio de 2010 falleció Phillip Walker debido a una insuficiencia cardíaca. Nunca obtuvo la popularidad que merecía, pero sí el respeto de sus compañeros bluseros.Un currante del blues con una profesionalidad fuera de toda duda. Por cierto, Phillip reemplazó a Jimi Hendrix en la banda de Little Richard. Phillip Walker nace en 1937 en Welsh, al sur de Luisiana. En su adolescencia se traslada con su familia a Port Arthur, Texas, y comienza a interesarse por la guitarra. Entra a formar parte de la banda de Lonesome Sundown y posteriormente se une a Lonnie Brooks. Se patean el circuito de bares de carretera del oeste de Texas junto al guitarrista Long John Hunter. A finales de los 50, graba su primer sencillo, "Hello My Darling".En los 60 se instala en Los Ángeles y graba algunos temas con su mujer Beatrice Gilley. Blackwater Park is an obscure band that emerged from the Berlin underground scene. They released their unique album "Dirt Box" in 1971, published on BASF in 1972. The group delivers a captivating, effective bluesy-heavy rock "trip" with lot of incisive guitar riffs, progressive Hammond Organ's arrangements, melodic heavy vocals and psychedelic effects that are part of the mix. His British singer had a strong voice. Especially the third and heavy track "Indian Summer", which clearly shows us the quality, engaging and virtuosity among its members. Remember that the last song is beautiful version of "For No One", composed by Lennon and McCartney,with the album 'Revolver' issued in 1966.
(Accessible) kraut power band whose work is essential for collectors. "Dirt Box" has been recently reissued on CD by record labels Second Battle.
Excelente banda!!!. La conoci el año pasado. Tienen una mezcla de progresivo, toques de bules y hard. Las piezas Indian summer, rock song,mental block y Dirty face muy buenas!!!
