Auckland, Nueva Zelanda, 1970. Unos jóvenes, quizás los primeros, deciden tocar rock and roll. Un rock and roll inspirado en el hard rock, la psicodelia o incluso algo más experimental, o una mezcla de todo, como Jimi Hendrix, Cream o Black Sabbath. Los sonidos que retumbaban en la escena rockera de aquella época. No sabían que, con esa determinación, se convertirían en los pioneros del rock en Nueva Zelanda. ¿Pero rock en Nueva Zelanda? Sí, existía una escena, aunque pequeña, con muy pocas bandas; a lo sumo, lo que se veía o se oía eran grupos de pop, con un enfoque más comercial, inspirados en los Beatles de los años 60. Siempre digo lo mismo: el universo del rock es vasto e inexplorado. La música es universal, por eso es fuerte y perdura en el tiempo. Y descubrir y escuchar a una banda neozelandesa es un verdadero privilegio. Pero volviendo a la década de 1970 en Auckland, esa ciudad sería testigo del nacimiento no solo de una banda, sino quizás del rock en todo el país. Me ref...
I sometimes wonder what it was like to be a music lover in the seventies. So many bands with so many records and so many of them obscure…was it as big a treat as it is today to find something incredibly rare. Blackwater Park "Dirt Box" [Spalax]
ResponderEliminarTheir lone (only one album) with 1972 this German hard rock outfit with an English vocalist,combined elements from multiple extant and budding rock subgenres to construct their complex sound: hard rock, blues-rock, jazz-rock, acid rock, prog rock, and even proto-metal.
Blackwater Park is an obscure band that emerged from the Berlin underground scene. They released their unique album "Dirt Box" in 1971, published on BASF in 1972. The group delivers a captivating, effective bluesy-heavy rock "trip" with lot of incisive guitar riffs, progressive Hammond Organ's arrangements, melodic heavy vocals and psychedelic effects that are part of the mix. His British singer had a strong voice. Especially the third and heavy track "Indian Summer", which clearly shows us the quality, engaging and virtuosity among its members. Remember that the last song is beautiful version of "For No One", composed by Lennon and McCartney,with the album 'Revolver' issued in 1966.
(Accessible) kraut power band whose work is essential for collectors. "Dirt Box" has been recently reissued on CD by record labels Second Battle.
Excelente banda!!!. La conoci el año pasado. Tienen una mezcla de progresivo, toques de bules y hard. Las piezas Indian summer, rock song,mental block y Dirty face muy buenas!!!
